Vanda
was recently profiled in The Dramatist (July/Aug 07) in the cover
story “50 To Watch.” Her full-length play, VILE
AFFECTIONS, which was produced in the New York International Fringe
Festival in 2006, was recently published by Original Works
Publisher. A scene from this play was featured in Dixon
Place’s Festival: Hot! Her play, STILL PHOTOS won
Celebration Theater’s (L.A.) New Play Contest which resulted in
this play’s world premiere. STILL PHOTOS was also nominated
for a Susan Smith Blackburn Award and was a winner in the Ashland
New Plays series. It was a finalist and semi-finalist in a
number of other contests such as Reva Shriner, Panowski Playwriting
Award, Play Labs at the Playwrights’ Center, the O’Neill
Playwriting Conference, and the Cherry Lane Alternative Mentor
Program. Vanda received an Edward Albee Fellowship for her
full-length play, SCREAMING IN THE WILDERNESS. This play also
won honorable mention in Stage3’s Playwriting Contest and was a
finalist for the Playwright’s Center Jerome Foundation
Grant. Another full-length play, AN APPEARANCE OF DESIRE, was
a finalist in The Eugene O’Neill National Playwriting Conference,
as well as being a finalist for the Playwright Center’s Jerome
Foundation Grant. This same play also won third place in The Open
Book Contest sponsored by Doubleday. Her one act plays have been
performed all around the world. Vanda is a member Emerging
Artists Theatre, TOSOSII, TRU, ICWP and the Dramatists’
Guild. She is an Associate Professor of Metropolitan College
of New York.
